Not to mention the fact that since Obama won Indiana in spite of Bayh’s support for Hillary, Bayh’s influence amongst his own constituency seems rather weak also.
Still, Byah, a Clintonista Pig who opposed Barack Obama in the primary, is now organizing a small coalition of his fellow Blue Dogshit DLC Jellyspines in hopes of opposing our President’s implementation of the majority’s agenda.

Peace Activist Wounded at Protest

American citizen critically injured after being shot in the head by Israeli forces in Ni’lin

Friday, 13 March 2009, Ni’lin Village: An American citizen has been critically injured in the village of Ni’lin after Israeli forces shot him in the head with a tear-gas canister.

Tristan Anderson from California USA, 37 years old, has been taken to Israeli hospital Tel Hashomer, near Tel Aviv. Anderson was unconscious and bleeding heavily from the nose and mouth. He sustained a large hole in the right part of his forehead where he was struck by a tear gas canister. The heavy impact from the tear gas canister being shot directly at him, from about 60 meters, also caused severe damage to his right eye, which he may lose. Tristan underwent brain surgery in which part of his right frontal lobe and shattered bone fragments were removed.

Tristan was shot by the new tear-gas canisters that can be shot up to 500m. I ran over as I saw someone had been shot, while the Israeli forces continued to fire tear-gas at us. When an ambulance came, the Israeli soldiers refused to allow the ambulance through the checkpoint just outside the village. After 5 minutes of arguing with the soldiers, the ambulance passed.

The Great State of New York’s Democratic leadership has finally done it. They have finally done away with the arcane, back-assward Rockefeller Drug Laws.

Thank you, real Democrats of New York. Way to keep the ball rolling.

There is little in life more pathetic and grotesquely ignorant than the example set by the Rockefeller Drug Laws and the mentality that supports such stupidity. The RDL were born of fear and ignorance, and aptly named for the chump who forged them.
Nelson Rockefeller, as Governor of NY, staunchly supported the legislation which was adopted in 1973 and was aimed at locking up non-violent drug offenders for unbelievably long periods of time.
The penalties for selling small amounts of narcotics were equal to the penalties for second degree murder. A minimum of 15 years to life in prison, and a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
This included Marijuana, which is factually not a narcotic.

The politics of fear and hatred prevailed and many good people had their lives needlessly thrown away.

Now, thank God, due to the efforts of activists and intelligent politicians over the span of many years, the RDL are where they belong. Dead and buried, and much like their namesake, will not be missed.

Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith, at an Albany news conference joined by Governor David Paterson and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, estimated this will save the state about “a quarter of a billion dollars” a year.

The governor and the legislative leaders are all Democrats, and Friday’s announcement was a breakthrough for them as years of efforts had produced only limited changes to drug laws. These fine leaders have restored dignity to the State of New York and sanity to the way gettin’ high is looked at.

Clinton acknowledged the U.S. role in Mexico’s drug cartel problem as she arrived in Mexico for a two-day visit where she will discuss U.S. plans to ramp up border security with President Felipe Calderon.

A surge in drug gang killings to 6,300 last year and fears the violence could seep over the border has put Mexico’s drug war high on President Barack Obama’s agenda, after years of Mexico feeling that Washington was neglecting a joint problem.

“Our insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade. Our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the death of police officers, soldiers and civilians,” Clinton told reporters during her flight to Mexico City.

“I feel very strongly we have a co-responsibility.”

Crushing the drug cartels, who arm themselves with smuggled U.S. weapons and leave slain rivals, sometimes beheaded, in public streets, has become the biggest test of Calderon’s presidency as the bloodshed rattles investors and tourists.

Clinton said U.S. efforts to ban drugs and prevent Americans from trying them had clearly not worked and it was unfair to blame Mexico for its drug gang problem.

Some seem upset about Obama making that appearance. I suggest such folks take a longer look.

I don’t have a problem with it at all.
That stuffed suit, quasi-royalty image of a President should have been done away with long ago.

Obama has broken a very foolish and delusional mold. The fact that POTUS are presented as some supreme infallible being is part of what keeps politicians out of touch with common people.
Obama simply doesn’t want to become out of touch. He is, in fact, the most in touch president since Carter and even more so than he.
Would we rather he was attending some fancy banquet with ice sculptures and harp players?

The mold Obama just broke will only lead us to bigger, better, more Liberal things in the future. The door is now open for “regular guy” (or girl) to end up on top and that’s a good thing.
As of last night, the definition of looking and acting “presidential” has forever changed for the better. No more corporate-asshat looking clowns in starched suits that appear behind a podium for a few mins then vanish into thin air.
If America wanted that kind of thing we would have elected Mitt Romney.

This is “change” and it’s good. Real good.

He said something, but it was about as important as he is.

Unfortunately, Barack Obama has dropped the ball once again when appointing officials.
This latest domestic policy face-plant could, if not handled right, have severe repercussions for Obama among his most ardent supporters.

He is Seattle Police Chief R. Gil Kerlikowske. He is also the choice for the nation’s new “Drug Czar".

Firstly, the term “Drug Czar” should have been done away with. The word “Czar” automatically conveys all things undemocratic. A title that reeks of all manner of evil as history clearly shows us.
Secondly, the ONDCP (office of national drug control policy) is an abomination of justice.
The ONDCP is a propaganda mill and absolutely nothing more or less. There is no end to the lies and dissemination of fabricated falsehood that the ONDCP, a Joe Biden manufactured mistake, is responsible for.

Now, Obama could have done much worse of course. He could have retained the lying sack of shit, John Walters, who is the present Drug Fascist…Czar…whatever.
So no doubt Kerlikowske is a step up. Question is, is the step high enough?

We doubt it. Seriously doubt it.

Picking a Seattle cop is not the problem, it’s just that the wrong Seattle cop was chosen.
Norm Stamper, also a former Seattle Chief of Police and presently an official with the great justice organization LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition), would have been the perfect pick.
A man who has not and will not lie for political motives, Stamper would have brought an impressive, incident free track record and a reality based outlook to a gov’t that so desperately needs it.

What Kerlikowske will bring is uncertain at best.

When you get these guys who’s “kid has done drugs", they almost automatically revert to blaming the drug and not the person abusing it as it should always be. People abuse drugs, not the other way around.
We may all end up suffering because Kerlikowske can’t face the fact that his kid get’s high, or had a problem or is an idiot who stepped over the line or whatever.

But Barack Obama did weed and coke and who knows what else. I’ll bet there’s a hit of Micro Dot in his history somewhere.
So maybe we’ll see Obama take a firm hand and guide Gil Man down the only practical, reasonable and ultimately effective path when it comes to America and recreational drugs, Legalization.
If Obama fails in this instance, Americans, Mexicans and many others the world over will suffer the misery of the violence, incarceration, and lack of medicine that prohibition produces.

The choice could have been worse but definitely could have been much, much better. Gotta call this a FAIL! for now. But I hope I’m wrong.

Now, Freeman has withdrawn his appointment due to pressure from the traitorous Israel lobby The American Israel Public Affairs Committee or AIPAC.

In the past, Freeman has rightfully and accurately questioned our government’s support of Israel and their terrorist endeavors. Now, as an Obama nominee, the AIPAC Dogs in House and Senate (the traitor, Joe Lieberman et al) have attacked Freeman with a characteristically Zionist campaign of deception and lies…

Mr. Freeman’s withdrawal from consideration as chairman of the National Intelligence Council came just hours after Dennis C. Blair, the director of national intelligence, vigorously defended him and said that his comments had been taken out of context.

In a message to colleagues and friends, first posted Tuesday evening on Foreign Policy magazine’s Web site, Mr. Freeman blamed pro-Israel groups for the controversy, saying the “tactics of the Israel Lobby plumb the depths of dishonor and indecency and include character assassination, selective misquotation, the willful distortion of the record, the fabrication of falsehoods, and an utter disregard for the truth.”

Joshua Block, a spokesman for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a lobbying group, said Tuesday that his organization had not taken a formal position on Mr. Freeman’s selection and had not lobbied Congress members to oppose it.

A former ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Freeman had in recent years questioned Washington’s steadfast support for Israel. He had also been deputy chief of mission at the American Embassy in Beijing.

Now, Barack Obama needs to do the same thing.

Barack Obama’s choice of Tim Kaine to replace the great Howard Dean as Democratic National Committee chairman is proving to be a colossal error.

As anticipated, Dean’s departure and the arrival of the weak-kneed Kaine is taking the teeth out of the Democratic leadership.

Tim Kaine is a self described “pragmatist". Another word for “coward with no principals".
His record as Governor of Virginia is evidence of that fact as Kaine failed to bolster the progressive movement in that state.
Too much time spent giving the Right Wing most everything they wanted.

Now granted, Kaine could never be the man Howard Dean is. Few could.
But there is no excuse for Kaine coming in and basically de-clawing the aggressive end of the party. But that is what he has done.
As is evident from the latest email I received asking for donations. This particular letter comes from someone named Jen O’Malley Dillon. Apparently the new Executive Director of the DNC.

The email starts out good. Talking about Limbaugh, Limbaugh and Steele… But at the end descends into something I find most disturbing indeed…

he can’t miss it – in his hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida.

I was afraid of this. Howard Dean had things well in hand and Tim Kaine is a jelly spine that’s going to take the grit out of the DNC.
I fucking knew it.
Tim Kaine was a mistake, one that may well come back to haunt the Democratic party in the future.
There was once a guy who Democrats considered a “rising star” much like they do Kaine today.
His name was Terry McAuliffe.
Former chair of the DNC, Terry McAuliffe, is the one who led the Democratic party into defeat which resulted in the dismal years between 1999 and 2006.
It took Howard Dean to correct the damage McAuliffe caused us.

Tim Kaine is another McAuliffe. I hope not, but it seems so.

The part of the email from the DNC that bothered me the most was this…
“To get America back on a path to prosperity, we’ll need to leave behind the failed partisan attack politics of the past. Americans voted for a new direction in November. Choosing Rush Limbaugh to be the voice of their party – as Republican leaders have done – is not the answer.“

Right there, the DNC became lost.

“Partisan attack politics” is what won us the gov’t.
“Failed"? The only thing that has failed is Barack Obama for thinking Tim Kaine could fill Howard Dean’s shoes.
Americans did not “vote for a new direction", we voted to rid the gov’t of Republicans.
And yes, Rushtard being the face of the GOP IS THE FUCKING ANSWER.
What rock has Ms. Dillon and the DNC been hiding under? We, the Democratic Left chose Rush to be the face of the GOP, not them. He’s the face we want to paint on them.
How is it that the new “Director” of the DNC doesn’t know that the White House placed Limbaugh on the pedestal? How can this person possibly be this out to lunch on the most immediate happenings in the party? Not even connected to our most visible strategies.

I’m sad to see that the DNC has been weakened so by the new leadership.
Howard Dean would have told Rush Limbaugh to do some sit ups and a few shut ups.

The new “leadership” of the DNC has no idea what they’re doing. They have their heads in the sand and are backing away from the fight at the most crucial point. Obama’s first term.

Pragmatism is for the weak and testicularly challenged.
The great thing about Howard Dean was that he has never been afraid to take a principled stand when he knew we were right. With this “new leadership", it seems principal has been buried in favor of capitulation.

Placing Tim Kaine and this Dillon person in charge of our strongest committee was a foolish mistake. And we are that much weaker for it.

Honestly, I don’t know which one is dumber than the other. Probably a three way tie with those who support them.

Watching Republicans lead the people astray with their lies and professional ineptitude becomes even more sickening when it happens right on your doorstep.

A fine gentleman by the name of Gary Gray, a journalist with our local newspaper, the Bristol Herald Courier, brings us news that the single most useless Senator (Lamar Alexander) and the new, decidedly inept TN-1 Congressional Rep Phil Roe are going around the area lying about the stimulus package.

The article appropriately begins with typical and fully expected deception from the Republican Liar’s Club…

Representatives for U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and U.S Rep. Phil Roe, R-1st, told about 50 local business leaders on Monday that the response to the recently signed stimulus bill has been overwhelmingly negative.

Well yeah, only their supporters and the Rush Limbaugh “Rushtards” call them. The rest of us know it’s useless to try and reason with either one of them. Of course they offered no numbers so you can be sure more people supported the stimulus than they’re willing to admit.

Meanwhile, some asshat named Bill Snodgrass, Phil Roe’s “District Director” (whateverthefuck that is), is quoted as spewing “the response we’ve gotten has been overwhelmingly against the stimulus package.”
(as if anyone who called knew what the first letter of the plan was)
Snotgrass attempted to outline Tennessee’s stimulus funds which amount to:

1) $1.6 billion for TennCare.

2) $1.2 billion for K-12 and special education.

3) $600 million for highway and bridge projects.

4) $171 million in “flex-funds” to help with budget shortfalls.

Now we all know what the real problem is here. Republicans don’t want to take the money for several reasons which include:

1) Too much oversight. They will not be able to misappropriate the funds as they always seek to do.

2) They don’t want to be seen helping the “Nigga” fix things. Their Rushtard constituency might take exception.

3) They could care less about the people of NE Tennessee, our children, our land, or our future.

4) Sheer incompetence. What kind of idiots turn down Billions with a capital “B” when the state they supposedly care about suffers?

5) If Democrats help Tennessee’s economic strife it will not be politically advantageous for the Repigs in the next elections.

All in all, President Obama’s stimulus package will serve to slow the pace of the downward economic spiral eight years of Republican wasteful spending, warmongering, and outright Kleptocracy dropped us into.

Let’s get back to the numbers…

1) $1.6 billion for TennCare.
This would have the largest positive impact on the state’s economy. Funds allotted for TennCare would be spent on Doctoral services, prescription drugs, and medical equipment and supplies.
Most of the TennCare patients are children. Quite simply, anyone who objects to this is abusing our children. 2+2 still equals 4, people.

2) $1.2 billion for K-12 and special education.
Again, Republicans putting children last. Putting teachers last too as this aspect of the stimulus funding would pay lots of teachers, some of our most important citizens, wages that are closer to appropriate.

Keep in mind that Republicans love nothing more than a dumbed down voter base, so you can easily see why educational funding is something they actually fear and loath.

3) $600 million for highway and bridge projects.
God forbid we have safe, functional bridges and roads to drive on.

Road work creates jobs. That’s a well known fact in all fifty states.
Keeping our roads up to civilized standards maintains economic security, and since our intelligence personnel have determined that national economy is national security, it keeps us safe too.

• Our nation’s highways, transit systems, railroads, airports, ports and inland waterways drive our economy.
Enabling all industries to achieve the growth and prosperity that have made America strong and prosperous.

• A U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) study concludes that for each $1 billion of federal spending on highway construction nationwide, 47,500 jobs are generated annually.

• The USDOT study also states that every dollar invested in the nation’s highway system yields $5.40 in
economic benefits in reduced delays, improved safety and lower vehicle operating costs.

• Driving on roads in need of repair costs Tennessee motorists $787 million a year in extra vehicle repairs
and operating costs – $181 per motorist.

Those are just a few of many points.

4) $171 million in “flex-funds” to help with budget shortfalls.

NASHVILLE – Tennessee’s general fund revenue collections fell $74 million below projections in November, pushing the state’s shortfall through the first five months of the budget year to $380 million.

Sales tax collections were 10.3 percent lower than the same month last year, the largest drop on record. The lowest previous drop was 8.7 percent in 1961, said state Finance Commissioner Dave Goetz.

“We’re seeing a continued relentless deterioration in sales taxes,” Goetz said.

Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen has told state agencies they may have to cut as much as 20 percent out of their spending plans to accommodate a shortfall that could grow to more than $900 million in the upcoming budget year.

As deep a hole as we’re in, you’d think every penny would count. But leave it to fiscally irresponsible Republicans to prefer sitting and doing nothing (Lamar Alexander’s specialty) to screw up even the easiest path to relief.
And that’s what they would do, nothing.

Are Tennessee Republicans offering us any way out of the financial perdition they helped lead us into?
Nope. Nothing.
No plan, no ideas, no effort and no organization.

Nothing.

President Obama and the Democratic party have stood up to the plate, wielded the biggest bat, and went for the fence.
That takes guts. Guts, brains, and a desire to do what is right for the nation and our people.
Republican leadership offers none of the above.

Progressive Democracy and results, or regressive Republicanism and more of the last eight years.
The only two choices we have.
