Obama's Congressional Address

Permalink 01:35:41 pm, Categories: Obamarama

That was a great speech. But there’s nothing unusual about Barack Obama giving a great speech. Though this particular speech was impressive in many ways if you dig into what was said and examine how it was said. Then you consider the reactions from Congress Critters and you will know what went down.

Barack Obama confirmed, solidly, his support for a “Public Option". It may or may not be labeled “Public Option” in the end, but as long as no American is ever refused treatment, either emergency or preventative, it’s what he promised and he seems to be keeping it.

(Public Option)

The insurance reforms that I’ve already mentioned would do just that. But an
additional step we can take to keep insurance companies honest is by making a
not-for-profit public option available in the insurance exchange. Let me be clear -
it would only be an option for those who don’t have insurance. No one would be
forced to choose it, and it would not impact those of you who already have
insurance. In fact, based on Congressional Budget Office estimates, we believe that
less than 5% of Americans would sign up.

Despite all this, the insurance companies and their allies don’t like this idea.
They argue that these private companies can’t fairly compete with the government.
And they’d be right if taxpayers were subsidizing this public insurance option. But
they won’t be. I have insisted that like any private insurance company, the public
insurance option would have to be self-sufficient and rely on the premiums it
collects. But by avoiding some of the overhead that gets eaten up at private
companies by profits, excessive administrative costs and executive salaries, it
could provide a good deal for consumers. It would also keep pressure on private
insurers to keep their policies affordable and treat their customers better, the
same way public colleges and universities provide additional choice and competition
to students without in any way inhibiting a vibrant system of private colleges and
universities.
It’s worth noting that a strong majority of Americans still favor a public insurance
option of the sort I’ve proposed tonight.

There it is there. Plain and simple.
If one cannot afford the insurance choices provided by this “exchange", the gov’t will pick up the tab.
Simple as that.
It’s by no means HR 676, but it will do for a prelude.

As we said before, there will be a “Public Option". Did you watch the address? Did you see the big smile on the face of Rep. Dennis Kucinich? The world heavyweight champion of the people was pleased with Obama’s clarity and position on supporting the underprivileged.
Did you see the reactions in the audience?
The camera panned to the Progressive Caucus. They were elated. The camera panned to the tiny, upper-Left corner of the room where the Scumbags, Liars and Traitors (Conservative Republicans) were corralled. They were acting like miserable, unruly brats who need a strap across their backs.
If the Scum are bummed, all is well.

When Obama addressed the Scum Section, I saw it. Though he spoke politically about “bipartisanship", I saw that “fuck you idiots” look on Obama’s face as he addressed them. I know that look. That’s the look I give them when I meet them in the streets.

Obama has confirmed his commitment to National Health Care. Now it’s up to Congress where we thankfully hold a major advantage.
Time to get on the phones again, Liberals. Time to write, call, visit…time to be louder than ever before.
Tell Pelosi, tell your local Rep, tell the Progressive Caucus. The Baucus Bill is 100% unacceptable.
Only a true Public Option will solve the problems we have concerning health care in this country. We will settle for nothing less than complete and total victory.
The Public Option is NOT NEGOTIABLE.

The Right is reeling, time to move in for the kill.

Noteworthy extras? Of course there were.
One suck-ass piece of shit from the great state of South Carolina by the name of Rep. Joe Wilson-R.
When Obama stated the fact that the benefit of HR 3200 will not be available to Illegals in the country, Wilson, obviously too lazy and/or stupid to read the legislation, stood up and shouted “you lie!” at the President.
Now, that would be fine if Obama was lying. But he wasn’t. Wilson, evidently little more than an embodiment of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, gave us a ring side view of the biggest verbal Face-Plant in the history of Congress. And he will pay dearly for it.

From the AP:

Later, Wilson was contrite.

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me,” he said in a statement. “While I disagree with the president’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the president for this lack of civility.”
He then tried to call Obama to apologize personally, but ended up talking with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel instead, Wilson’s office said.

LOL. Fuck you. You sub-human piece of shit. Just, fuck you. We will ram the Public Option down your throat and out your gaping ass. Tell your girlfriend, Glenn Becky, that you just couldn’t get the job done.
Joe Bitch Wilson

Get used to it, Righty. We rule this roost and that’s all there is to it.
