A dear friend on the internet, whom I loves me some of, has asked me in a passionate fashion to blog about something other than politics today. She figures I need a break from five straight years of non stop politics.
I can do this ’til the oceans dry up, but she might have a point. Who knows?

So, there I was…Trying to find something silly to post here to satisfy a dear friend’s genuine concerns.
Fortunately, I stumbled upon some fairly groovy pictures of the principals of a gymnastics tournament in England.
(The shit we do to please our friends)
Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2009 at the O2 Arena in London. I mean, how much more interesting does it get? Right?
Now, I’m not saying these gals are not great athletes. They are beyond great actually. These tiny super-humans are indeed an impressive sight to behold.
At times, they defy description.
This series of pictures of the tournament may be able to better illustrate my awe when it comes to gymnastics.
(captainkona writing about gymnastics is like Seymour Hearsh writing a cook book)
We begin with a Chinese gymnast by the name of Deng Linlin. She seems to be missing something. Perhaps we’ll find it later…

This photograph of British contestant, Rebecca Wing, seems to indicate that her trainers reassembled her improperly after routine inspection…

Finland’s Ida Laisi is a truly amazing athlete.
Not only can she assume the exact same position that my ex-girlfriend spent most of her natural life in, she can do it in mid air and without the elasticated harness…

Kyoko Oshima of Japan treated the enthusiastic audience to a record breaking day when she became the first gymnast in history to score a Perfect “10″ in the Face Plant event…

Here’s Deng again. Still looking…

Our own Kayla Williams was doing an outstanding job before she was sucked into the O2 Arena vacuum system. At last report she was still missing and believed to be somewhere in the Maldives…

Ah, there it is…

Ok, now that’s just wrong. She was charged 30 Quid for that pedicure…
After finally locating her head, Deng was so happy she thoroughly delighted the audience by turning into a Dolphin and swimming gracefully away…

You know, when you really get down to it, there are things more interesting than politics.
Thanx, kind lady. I feel better already.
