Rise and Shine, Mr. President. You're Late for Work

Permalink 02:42:53 pm, Categories: Obamarama

The message could not possibly be more clear. There is no shroud of secrecy, no subliminal meanings. There is only one way out of this mess for the Democratic Party.

There are two voices ringing loudly in Democratic ears right now. One, Obama’s enemies, say that Democrats are losing because “the Right Wing is surging and America opposes health reform". The other, Obama’s base, says Democrats are losing because “we won’t vote for them unless they remain dedicated populists and give us Health Reform with a Public Option type of mechanism".

Which voice is true? The numbers support the latter. Overwhelmingly.

The only question that remains is: Will Obama and the Democrats listen to the right voice? The one that voted for them. The one that donated to them. The one that has the power to bring it all crashing down around them.

The Massachusetts Obama voters who voted for Brownie are still assholes, but I do fully understand where they’re coming from. And I agree with the sentiment 100%. That particular election was the wrong one to use, but the message is out and it is abundantly clear.
You promised us meaningful “change” and have done nothing to deliver it.

It really is that simple. President Obama has, as of late, allowed the business-as-usual aspect of the beltway to consume him when he should have been the one consuming it.

Law of the jungle, Mr. President: eat or be eaten.

Law of survival: Adapt, migrate or perish.

Adapting is easy. Perform the will of your base and survive. If not, might as well just resign. Failure brings the end.

51 votes is all we need. All that is needed to pass Health Reform with the Public Option in the exchange. That is what the vast majority of the people in the country want. Get it done, Sir. Get this done and behind us or when November rolls around the Democratic Left and other intelligent voters roll up our welcome mats and again allow those Tea Bag traitors to eat the Democratic party alive.

Yeah, we noticed that you declared war on Wall Street. Replacing Geithner with former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker is a good idea. Maybe you have gotten the message after all. I hope so, but beating up Wall Street, as joyful as it sounds, is nowhere near enough. Without a complete victory on Health Reform your base will never return.

That’s just a fact you’re going to have to face. Better sooner than later. Better listen to your doctor….
“Nobody cares if the insurance companies, the Republicans - pardon my Freudian slip - are infuriated or not, because they clearly have been obstructionists the entire time. What they care about is what is in the final bill. And if you use reconciliation as George Bush has a number of times, especially with his budget busting tax cuts, we’re going to get a good bill and it’s really going to do some significant things…” -Gov. Howard Dean
