As reported by the Kingsport Times-News (oddly enough), we find the most comprehensive assessment yet of the political phenomenon known as Stimulus Haters and their penchant for claiming credit for that which they profess to hate.
This is a fine article by a third rate newspaper. I suggest you relish it as they are few and far between…
We have written previously about Rep. Phil Roe and his “verbally oppose the stimulus while basking in it’s glory” attitude.
Dr. Roe’s hypocrisy on this subject is not debatable. It is irrefutable, undeniable fact. The earth is round, there’s water in the ocean, and Phil Roe is a hypocrite.
But Rep. Roe is not alone in his hypocrisy by any means. TN Sen. Lamar Alexander, TN Sen. Bob Corker and a host of other “Stimulus Hater” miscreants are all willing to join the ranks of those looking for political points, stimulus money and plausible deniability in a handy flip top box.
Average Republican and Teabagger alike have joined Rep. Roe in seeking funds from the stimulus they hate…from the gov’t they hate…for all the reasons they love. Self-Glorification, lobbyist money and Lemming-like partisanship.
I’ve said it, I’ve proved it and I’ll say it again.
TN District 1 Congressional Rep. Phil Roe is a self-absorbed, ultra-Partisan liar who is not fit to serve in public office.
From the Kingsport Times-News:
Stimulus critics - including Rep. Roe and Sens. Corker and Alexander - tried to letter-mark funds for their constituents
Published October 18th, 2010 | Added October 18th, 2010 5:16 am
According to the Center for Public Intregity Rep. Pete Sessions, the firebrand conservative from Dallas, Texas, has relentlessly assailed the Democratic-passed stimulus law as a wasteful “trillion dollar spending spree” that was “more about stimulating the government and rewarding political allies than growing the economy and creating jobs.”
But that didn’t stop the Republican lawmaker from reaching his hand out behind the scenes to seek stimulus money for the suburb of Carrollton after the camera lights went dark and the GOP campaign against the 2009 stimulus law quieted down. He wasn’t alone. First District Rep. Phil Roe wrote letter-marks for a Dollywood project and a Morristown rail project. Sen. Bob Corker wrote for funds for a Chattanooga industrial park and Sen. Alexander sent a letter-mark requesting stimulus funds for a Nashville tire and rubber firm..
The affluent city’s rail project is “shovel-ready,” Sessions wrote Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood in February, urging his cabinet agency to give “full and fair consideration” to the city’s request for $81 million in stimulus money, according to a copy of the letter obtained by the Center for Public Integrity. Ironically, his letter suggested the project would create jobs, undercutting the very public argument he has made against the stimulus.
“Carrollton’s project will create jobs, stimulate the economy, improve regional mobility and reduce pollution,” the lawmaker wrote.
When asked about the letter, Sessions suggested to the Center that he did not want his “strong, principled objection to the bill to prevent me” from getting his congressional district its share of the massive spending pot.
Sessions was hardly alone.
Scores of Republicans and conservative Democrats who voted against the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act subsequently wrote letters requesting funds for projects in a massive, behind-the-scenes letter-writing and phone call campaign, documents obtained by the Center show.
See What Stimulus Projects Members of Congress Lobbied for in Your State
Those asking for money include Tea Party favorites like freshman Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown and Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., former presidential candidates Ron Paul and John McCain and Republican congressional leaders like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana.
Many Democratic leaders who had boasted they prevented lawmakers from inserting special spending requests in the stimulus law when it passed also engaged in the behind-the-scenes letter writing to secure funding afterwards, including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Rep. Brad Ellsworth, the Indiana Democrat now running for U.S. Senate, originally voted against the stimulus plan but later came around to cautiously supporting it. He collected $6,500 in donations from Duke Energy’s political action committee in the months just before and after he wrote an August 2009 letter supporting the utility giant’s ultimately successful request for an Energy Department grant, the Center found. Ellsworth’s office declined comment.
The letters particularly dismay conservative advocacy groups like the Tea Party and Americans for Tax Reform that have been backing Republicans in the fall election but now see a touch of hypocrisy among candidates they thought were conservative champions of federal spending cuts.

Obama-Holder: Felipe Calderon's Bitches
LOL
It was only a matter of time until US Attorney General Eric Holder showed just what a punk he really is. Caving to pressure from Obama, who is cowering before Mexico’s Drug Cartel-Owned joke of a President, Felipe Calderon, Holder has stated that the Gov’t will continue to persecute Californians who exercise their rights under Prop 19 once it passes.
…Stepping up the Obama administration’s opposition to Proposition 19, the nation’s top law enforcement official promised to “vigorously enforce” federal drug laws against Californians who grow or sell marijuana for recreational use even if voters pass the legalization measure.
U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric Holder’s response to the initiative comes as the administration has been under pressure to campaign against it more forcefully. Last week, Mexico’s president, Felipe Calderon, chided the Obama administration for not doing enough to defeat it. And last month, nine former heads of the Drug Enforcement Administration publicly urged Holder to speak out.
In a letter sent Wednesday to the former DEA administrators, Holder wrote, “Let me state clearly that the Department of Justice strongly opposes Proposition 19. If passed, this legislation will greatly complicate federal drug enforcement efforts to the detriment of our citizens.”
Felipe Calderon opposes Prop 19 because it will take money out of the hands of his Cartel masters. Caldron, a first rate hypocrite, always insists that “demand” in the US fuels drug trafficking. What came first, the demand or the drug?
The fact is, Mexico has been poisoning our young people with the drugs they send over for decades. All of our Heroin and Cocaine comes from or through Mexico and always has.
Calderon is a filthy little coward for making accusations while aiding and abetting the flow of narcotics into California and the rest of the country. The “poison” comes North and the target is our young people.
Felipe Calderon can go fuck himself.

Which brings me back to Obama and Holder…
You two chickenshits might want to man up for just one time in your elected lives and make your own decisions instead of taking orders, like a couple of bitches, from a corrupt third-world dictator.
Got news for you, AG Holder. If you wanna be the black John Asscroft, that’s on you. I’m going outside right now and smoke some primo and you can get stuffed.
We’ll just add you to the Biden list of those who gotta go before we’ll vote Obama back in.

Dear Greg: Response to Greg Johnson at KnoxNews
Posted here because it’s too long and uncensored for the forums at knoxnews.com
Blogger Greg Johnson states that “Tennessee is poised to turn “Red". Funny, I thought this state has been “red” for decades. Even when it was “Blue".
Johnson’s piece is here, and he’s both right and wrong. Right on some details, wrong on the overall picture.
He begins…
Chip Forrester’s face will be brilliantly red on Nov. 2. Lincoln Davis could be a bit blush, too. Or he should be.
Forrester is the chairman of the Tennessee Democratic Party, and his redness of countenance will come from watching the electoral map of Tennessee go crimson in places that have been blue for a long, long time on a glorious night for his opponents, the Tennessee Republican Party.
I’ve written many times that Chip Forrester (TNDP Chairman) was doing nothing to promote Democrats. That’s nothing new at all.
Forrester seems to think that hammering Republicans, no matter how accurately, on the TNDP website would be enough to win. He never seemed to get that most (likely) Republican voters in this state couldn’t tell a keyboard from a Key Lime Pie.
The newspapers and TV are what gets attention here. He failed (albeit for lack of funds more than anything) to show the average voter why Democrats are better. You do that in the street, not on a web site.
But…that’s not why this state is getting Redder.
We have probably the most uneducated, uninformed electorate in TN of any of the other 49. An electorate that seems somehow drawn to liars and mindlessness.
Many of them FOXbots, if you will, who absorb Rupert Murdoch’s bullshit like sponges. Others, good people but unable to discern the ways of professional liars.
Phil Roe has lied through his teeth with every campaign mail-out and I have caught him in virtually every one of them.
(Google Phil Roe’s Truthiness Woes pts 1 through 7)
I sent him a link to every post along with a challenge to back up his mouth. He has cowered each time.
Liars like Roe tell TN citizens that they are being forced to buy health insurance they can’t afford. The fact is that given our median wage, a majority of Tennesseans will be exempt and our entire middle class will receive subsidies.
Mandatory Insurance? That was a Republican idea to begin with. To quote a Neo-Con named Stuart Butler, of the Heritage Foundation, who in 1993 stated the following whilst testifying before congress…
“…..This translates into a requirement on individuals to enroll themselves and their dependents in at least a basic health plan — one that at the minimum should protect the rest of society from large and unexpected medical costs incurred by the family. And as any social contract, there would also be an obligation on society. To the extent that the family cannot reasonably afford reasonable basic coverage, the rest of society, via government, should take responsibility for financing that minimum coverage.”
Democratic Idea? Nope.
Phil Roe never said a word about our mandatory auto insurance though. ![]()
But his lies are not the problem. The fools and hapless souls who buy them are.
Marsha Blackburn, for instance, is an idiot. Any edu-ma-cated person can see that clearly. But alas, a moron is a hero to another moron.
Yes, Marsha was one of the “Death Panel” Dimwits. Remember?
Stacey Campfield is a circus clown who managed to get ejected for acting like one at a UT football game. Yet people vote for him still. Even though they cannot point to one single thing Campfield has accomplished for his community. Much like Roe and Blackburn.
Yes, Forrester has dropped the ball in a big way, the entire TNDP has. The DNC as well, under it’s incompetent leadership (Tim Kaine), offered no support.
But it’s the people who go to the polls and cast the ballots that decide things (most of the time). And….well, they say stupid is as stupid does.
How many people do you think actually believe that “Obama is going to ban guns"? Even though he doesn’t have the power because the Supreme Court decides constitutional issues.
They said the same lies about Clinton and I still have my gun.
Uneducated electorates are to Republican politicians what a damp, dark basement is to mold. A place to thrive and multiply like so much fungus.
Didn’t used to be this a`way. I guess evolution isn’t all it’s cracked up to be because much of the TN electorate is clearly de-volving.
It’s ok to dump on Forrester, but try not to lose sight of the harsh realities involved. All too many people in this state just don’t know what’s good for them. And that’s a sad, sad thing that I take no pleasure in pointing out.
By the way, if you think Lincoln Davis is a Liberal, you need either a Political Science refresher course or a lobotomy. There will be no difference between Davis and a Republican. Never has been.
Love, kona.

Election Time 2: Early Voting is the Shit
Myself and about eight others did our duty this morning…you?
A nice lady (who probably just wanted to touch me
), stuck this little sticker on my chest moments before I cast my votes for Mike Clark and Mike McWherter.

Voting was swift and easy at the Bristol YWCA. Numerous cars in the parking lot sported bumper stickers such as “coexist", “kill your tv” and “McWherter for Governor". Didn’t notice any anti-people statements at all.
Everyone was polite and smiling. The machine had no glitches that I experienced. Smooth sailing all the way. I was out in ten mins.
NO EXCUSES, DEMS. Call in sick, whatever you have to do. There are many ways to prove dutiful and serve your country and people. Voting, especially now, is one of the first.
Let no Teabagger remain standing.

Election Time
This is it, people. Liberals, Democrats, Greens, Intelligent Independents and Republicans who know the consequences of letting your radical Right fringe take the wheel…You know that things are on the right track and moving forward.
Don’t be stupid, don’t be chickenshit, and don’t be dissuaded by skewed polls that contacted people that still have land lines and were at home in the afternoon.
Yeah, I’m not satisfied with Obama/Democrat’s performance either. That doesn’t mean I want a Republican majority in the house that will produce nothing but political gridlock. That doesn’t mean it’s ok to bring back the Bush years.
We can do much better than we did in ‘08 down the road. But for now, we have to keep ‘em.
And you know it.

The Chamber of Communists
A startling and perverse revelation has emerged concerning the US Chamber of Commerce and donations to the Republican party….
The US Chamber of Commerce is supposed to be an advocate for business in America. They are not. They are advocates for large corporate interests only. And now it’s been discovered that the CoC are also advocates for foreign business interests. At the expense of Americans.
We recently mentioned how the CoC lobbied against American workers and for the outsourcing of our jobs, but now the CoC has crossed the line enough to have actually committed a criminal act.
Think Progress has discovered, through their own investigation, that the money the Chamber uses to buy ads that attack Democratic candidates in fact originates in foreign nations. Some of them financially hostile to the United States and a few anything but “capitalists".
Russia, several Islamic Monarchies like Saudi Arabia and China are just a few…
From Think Progress:
– Like the Chamber’s involvement in Bahrain, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce operates in India through a group called “U.S.-India Business Council” (USIBC), which has offices around the world but is headquartered in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Dozens of Indian businesses, including some of India’s largest corporations like the State Bank of India (state-run) and ICICI Bank, are members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce through the USIBC. Annual membership dues range from $7,500 to $15,000 or more, and the money is given directly into the Chamber’s 501©(6) bank account. Like the USBBC, the USIBC generates well over $200,000 a year in dues for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce from foreign businesses. On the USIBC website, many of the groups lobbying goals advocate changing American policy to help businesses in India. Under the manufacturing policy goal, USIBC boasts that it “can play a helpful role in guiding U.S. companies to India, while supporting various policy initiatives that will enhance India’s reputation as a major manufacturing and investment hub.”
– Many foreign “AmChams” or Business Councils operate outside the direct sphere of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce but nonetheless send dues money back to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. For instance, the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt is a separate entity based in Cairo that raises hundreds of thousands of dollars from both Egyptian firms and American businesses. However, the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt calls itself “the most active affiliates of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in the” Middle East. Another foreign chamber, like the Abu Dhabi AmCham, which includes American firms and Esnaad, a subsidiary of the state-run Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, claims that it is a a “dues paying member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and part of the global network of American Chambers of Commerce.” In Russia, the relationship between the American Chamber of Commerce there and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce here is opaque. This might be because many of the dues-paying members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia are Russian state-run companies, like VTB Bank, and controlled by the Russian government. Asked by ThinkProgress if the Russian Chambers pay dues back to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Ksenia Forsheneva, the membership development manager at the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, replied, “Unfortunately the information that you require is closed for the public.”
Chamber CEO Tom Donohue and Moron of the Century

The US Chamber of Commerce is committing a crime. According to the FEC “The Prohibition
The Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) prohibits any foreign national from contributing, donating or spending funds in connection with any federal, state, or local election in the United States, either directly or indirectly. It is also unlawful to help foreign nationals violate that ban or to solicit, receive or accept contributions or donations from them. Persons who knowingly and willfully engage in these activities may be subject to fines and/or imprisonment.
Who is a Foreign National?
The following groups and individuals are considered “foreign nationals” and are, therefore, subject to the prohibition:
* Foreign governments;
* Foreign political parties;
* Foreign corporations;
* Foreign associations;
* Foreign partnerships;
* Individuals with foreign citizenship; and
* Immigrants who do not have a “green card.”
“
Several groups such as Think Progress and MoveOn are demanding a federal investigation into the Chamber’s illegal and highly un-American activities.
This is what Republicans are about. Catering to foreigners at the expense of Americans. This is what the Teabaggers and their candidates support.
The Chamber of Commerce needs an enema. A complete restructuring preceded by the resignations of the entire upper office which includes:
Thomas J. Donohue, President and CEO
Thomas D.. Bell Jr., Chairman of the Board of Directors
John Ruan III, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors
Robert S. Milligan, Immediate Past Chairman and Chairman of the Executive Committee
Steve Van Andel, Treasurer
It’s a sad state of affairs when an institution such as the CoC, which is supposed to support average American businesses, spends their money (foreign money) supporting candidates that are notoriously pro-corporate and anti-small biz.
It’s even sadder when they resort to flagrant criminal activity to further that agenda.
A criminal investigation is appropriate and heads need to roll.

Phil Roe's Truthiness Woes Pt. 7
This man is becoming an absolute expert in lying, bold-faced, to his constituency. Sad thing is, those who vote for him are either too stupid to fact check him, or too lacking in self-respect to care.
From the desk of TN-1 Republican Rep. Phil Roe…
EPA Policies Are Hurting Jobs, Economy
Since the Senate will not pass the flawed cap and trade legislation, the Administration is taking matters into their own hands, using the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as their lead enforcement agency. New regulations planned by the EPA could have detrimental effects to our economy – particularly causing a loss of jobs, impeding economic recovery and harming livelihoods.
Last week, I joined other members of the Rural America Solutions Group for a forum to discuss harmful regulations that may be imposed by the Obama Administration’s EPA and have already been championed by the Democratic leadership in Congress. Included in this forum were seven panelists from across the country who offered perspective and real-life examples on how these regulations could hurt job creation and economic growth. Overwhelmingly, the panelists agreed that EPA’s policies are overreaching, burdensome regulations.
Let’s see…no facts offered about how Cap&Trade is “flawed". I guess we just have to take the word of a proven liar on that.
![]()
Rural American Solutions Group? Why you patronizing, smart-assed little Gerbil-faced geek.
Why did you neglect to mention that this “group” was concocted by your fellow lying creep, John Boehner?
As the GOP website clearly reveals…
” Rural American Solutions Group Unveiled
Posted April 30, 2009
The Rural American Solutions Group will focus on developing solutions to address issues facing rural America. House Republican Leader John Boehner (OH), Rep. Doc Hastings (WA), Rep. Frank Lucas (OK), Rep. Sam Graves (MO) and other House Republicans unveiled the group today.
According to a press release, President Obama promised to hold a summit on rural issues in his first 100 days, but that has not happened.”Any chance you were concerned that this “group” would be seen as the dramatically partisan joke that it actually is as opposed to the citizen’s group you attempt to present it as?

By all means, please proceed Dr. Boy-Who-Cried-Wolf…
The heart of the EPA’s regulation would be a backdoor national energy tax that will ultimately kill jobs, stop economic growth and raise the cost of energy, food and transportation. They would also double the current regulatory standard on farm dust that would make tilling a field, operating a feedlot or diving farm vehicles impossible - bringing the agriculture sector to a standstill. A representative from the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation said, “Farmers and their way of life and livelihood have never felt more challenged or threatened than they do today by the continuous onslaught of regulations and requirements from the Environmental Protection Agency…. The cost they represent will impact the economy as a whole, and this committee should not be surprised when our economy contracts and jobs are lost to foreign competition.”
Lying dog. Where do I begin?…
Fearmongering has always been a GOP staple when they don’t have an substantive argument. The EPA is entertaining lots of possible measures for making our air cleaner and our water safer to drink. Nothing is carved in stone yet and Farm Dust measures are far more complex than Mr. Roe might tell his intellectually challenged constituency.
FARM DUST: There are measures that large farms and other industries can take to greatly reduce farm Dust emissions. Farm Dust is inevitable, but it’s also a major health and environmental hazard. The EPA will assess the situation and do what is best for all concerned.
I challenge Rep. Roe to offer any factual evidence that the EPA is Obama’s personal revenge machine or that they have actively implemented any of the extreme measures he implies.
Farm Dust can be kept at a minimum and I’m confident that most farmers do their best. Corporate farms, on the other hand, probably are more likely to cut safety for profit as it is with most corporate entities. Dust emissions do require a certain amount of personal responsibility on behalf of the farmer/CEO…
“Try engineering and administrative methods first to cut dust emissions. Use good ventilation in enclosed spaces such as barns and silos. Look at how you dispense materials around the farming operation and change them to reduce the dust emissions. For example, automated feed machines, mechanical waste removal systems, and wet spray methods can all cut dust emissions. Use proper storage methods and consider changing bedding materials, feeds, chemical fertilizers, etc. to low-dust options.
When you have identified and implemented dust reduction techniques, note the remaining tasks and work areas that create dust exposures. These are the job tasks that may require respiratory protection such as a nuisance dust mask or, for more protection, an air-purifying respirator.”
“Bring agriculture to a standstill"….What an idiot. Like Democrats don’t eat.
Fearmongering dork.

“Jobs lost to foreign competition"…. The GOP has been outsourcing American’s jobs for many decades and they are the fathers of it. This sounds especially hypocritical coming from a congressman WHO JUST VOTED AGAINST ENDING TAX BREAKS FOR COMPANIES THAT SEND OUR JOBS OVERSEAS.
HR 4213 facts HERE and HERE.
Phil Roe is all about creating jobs, for the Chinese.
In addition, a new regulation on hydraulic fracturing – considered a safe, well-regulated natural gas drilling technology under the Clean Water Act – would greatly harm domestic energy production and kill thousands of energy jobs. New relegations on solid fuel-fired boilers have also been set, and could result in tens of billions in capital costs for upgrades, in turn costing thousands of jobs because of these losses.
That is a lie. The FRAC Act of 2009 was designed to force mining and drilling companies to disclose the contents of the liquids they use to invoke “Fracturing".
First read the FACTS about HYDRO-FRAC and it will be easy to see the manipulative lies of John Boner’s puppy dog, Phil Roe…
“In June 2009 two identical bills named the FRAC Act were introduced to both the United States House and the Senate. FRAC stands for Fracturing Responsibility and Awareness of Chemicals Act. The House bill was introduced by Diana Degette, Jared Polis, and Maurice Hinchey. Bob Casey and Chuck Schumer introduced the bill to the Senate. These bills are designed to amend the Safe Drinking Water Act. This would allow the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate hydraulic fracturing that occurs in states which have not taken primacy in UIC regulation. The bill also requires the energy industry to reveal what chemicals are being used in the sand-water mixture.”
And……………..
“Some environmental and human health concerns possibly associated with hydraulic fracturing may include the potential mishandling of solid toxic waste, potential risks to air quality, potential contamination of ground water, and the unintended migration of gases and hydraulic fracturing chemicals to the surface within a given radius of drilling operations. The potential costs associated with possible environmental clean-up processes, loss of land value and human and animal health concerns are undetermined. New technological advances and appropriate state regulations are working to study and safely implement the process.
A well blowout in Clearfield County, PA on June 3, 2010 sent more than 35,000 gallons of hydraulic fracturing fluids into the air and onto the surrounding landscape in a forested area. Campers were evacuated and the company EOG Resources and the well completion company C.C. Forbes have been ordered to cease all operations in the state of Pennsylvania pending investigation. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has called this a “serious incident”.
Read the whole Wiki link and it will easy for anyone to see through the lies of Phil Roe.
I am all for clean air, and I believe government should ensure that companies are playing by the rules. But what we don’t need is any more ridiculous red tape in the First District and around the country that has not been authorized by Congress and will only harm job growth in our country. We need a federal government that will focus on creating jobs, and preventing tax hikes and getting our economy back on track.
Um, no you’re not, no you don’t and if “red tape” is more of a concern to you than the health of the people in your district then I submit that you, Dr. Roe, are a quack.
Not to mention a liar.
VOTE MIKE CLARK FOR US CONGRESS. Because Phil Roe doesn’t care about you.
